First Fill

I had my first fill this afternoon and like everyone told me...it was a piece of cake (pardon my reference to food).  It didn't hurt, it was quick and easy.  He did do the first fill though while I was standing up and drinking a cup of water.  But it went well... I was a bundle of nerves for nothing.
AND another surprise...I lost another couple pounds and have lost a total of 19...Yay!!!
Now that I have 3.5 cc in my band, I will some restriction and make new adjustments to my life and habits.
Just wanted to update and let you know that I was a worry wart over nothing.  Thank you for all your positive input.

Glad it went ok for you, I think we all freak out a bit for no reason on that first fill. We lay flat for our fills, then sit up to drink the water.  I started to panic when I saw this needle sticking out of my chest. Makes for a pretty good story now tho.

I'm glad it went well for you Arlene...hopefully the 'bandster hell' phase is OVER for you.

Ya know I didn't really consider it "bandster hell"  it just seemed during the healing process that I wasn't banded...I had no problem popping things in my mouth that didn't belong there and felt like I was "fitting in" with the holiday party goers..BUT  I knew it was wrong and I tried to compensate.

But onward now....restriction and hopefully weight will come off of me.    Positive thoughts and new beginnings and goals.

AND I didn't even look at what the doc was doing while he did it...he talked to me, but I didn't look.

It's over now and the fear of the unknown was all it was.

Hello Arlene (my bandster twin)
We had surgery on the same day and I too have lost 19lbs on yesterday when I had my first fill (Jan 12).. My only thing today is I feel a fullness in the chest and just a twinge of almost nausea. I have only had full liquids like I was advised. I am drinking only protein this morning. Please tell me this is part of the new restriction. Other than that I feel ok. I have had no problems since banding. Thanks for all of your support. Neet

Well my fill was no problem.  Believe me I tested it immediately.  He told me not to go on liquids just to continue...maybe eat a little softer for a day.  So I got stuck, quite a bit.  Even the eggs were getting stuck...But NOW its okay...I haven't had a stuck episode and I feel as if everything is going down...maybe a little to easy.
I feel wonderful, I mean I feel as if I don't have a band until something gets stuck.  I am lax about, chew, chew, chew...and sometimes take too big of a bite, hence the stuck.  My liquids go down, no problem and I have to physically tell myself to stop eating.  A hiccup or burp maybe tells me ...it's enough...haven't tested or pushed.
I stepped it up at the gym and my scale hasn't moved.  I am trying...really trying not to eat bad things...but they do find there way in.
Other than me not following the rules, its going well...I get my next fill around February 19th I think.  How many cc's did you get?

I received 4ccs. He said to come back in 2 mos unless I felt I needed more restriction sooner. Right now unless it is psychological I could not eat more than a 1/2 cup. I just tried some soup for lunch and felt the fullness I mentioned after about that. I hope this is what it feels like. I have always eaten fast so have to really concentrate on eating slowly and taking breaks in between bites.

Glad it went good for you Arlene.  I think we all worry a little before that first one and it sounds like you did great.  I hope you get some lasting restriction!

Boo you are my inspiration and my mentor...I wish I could just get my head on straight about the rule following....I am not getting in my liquids and some days fall short on the protein.
I don't start thinking about food until about noon and then I'm about 2 small meals short.

Got keep trying, keep conforming and moving my schedule and habits.

Thanks Arlene.  I know it's hard and you will figure it out.

Every night after I do the dinner dishes I make my protein shake for the next am.  That way in the morning it's made and ready and I grab it and drink it on the way to work.  It's either 28 or 42 grams depending if I do 8 or 12 ounces.  It's a nice way to start the day and your off to a good protein start.

Just don't give up and keep at it.  You'll come across your routine that works soon.
